Job Description:

The Anchorage Museum at Rasmuson Center has immediate need for a Part-Time Visitor Services Assistant.

Under general supervision of the Visitor Services Specialist, this position performs cashier duties and provides information to visitors of the Museum. Incumbents work variable scheduled hours conforming to the seasonal hours of the facility.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Ensure that each Museum visitor receives outstanding customer service by providing a friendly environment which includes greeting and acknowledging every visitor, answering questions, maintaining outstanding standards, and thorough exhibit knowledge along with all other components of customer service.

 

Qualifications:

 

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent. 
  • Cash handling and reporting experience.  
  • One year of museum attendant experience preferred.

Fishing Guide Trainee / Lodge Caretaker

1. The trainee will provide supervised professional guided fishing services to guests at Jimmie Jack’s Lodge.

2. The trainee will work as Lodge Caretaker on days when not guiding. One rest day will be given each week.

As a guide: The guide will be responsible for the safe navigation of rivers (power and rowing), teaching of fishing techniques, and will be responsible for routine boat maintenance and cleaning and other assigned tasks. Most importantly, the guide will insure that each client has an enjoyable day on the water.

As Lodge Caretaker: the trainee will be responsible for regular maintenance, and small projects at the lodge. 

Job Requirements: The successful applicant will hold a USCG OUPV (six pack) Captain’s License or Western Rivers of Alaska license, and pass the Kenai River Guide Academy. The applicant must have experience operating boats. The applicant will also have excellent people skills, cleaning skills, good motor coordination, attention to detail, and be coachable.The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, disciplined, and have a high energy level.

Other Information: The trainee will be responsible for the purchase of their guide permit, and this can be done upon arrival: Resident = $750, Non-resident = $1650 AND their Alaska sportfishing license $245.
